Your personal life story is a unique and meaningful journey, and it deserves to be created with the right people by your side. From the very first conversations with the biographer to the moment your family holds the finished book in their hands, the process becomes a shared and memorable experience, filled with reflection, discovery, and pride.
Creating a life story takes time. In most cases, the process lasts between six months to a year. It is important not to rush it. Above all, the heart of the book is the writing itself, the ability to capture a life in an honest, sensitive and beautiful manner.
It is important to choose the right writer for each individual and family. Every story stems from a different world: different languages, cultures, professions, memories, and ways of speaking. The biographer must be able to enter that world naturally and authentically. To truly tell a story with depth and authenticity it deserves, the writing must feel natural to the person whose life is being told.
A skilled biographer understands the atmosphere — the details of a particular time, place, language, and way of living. That helps to create a story that feels genuine and emotionally alive. Over the years, I have worked with exceptional writers on many deeply personal projects.
Here are some examples:
A personal life story about the life of Leiba Chinich, who came from Argentina to a kibbutz in Israel, had to be written by a Spanish-speaking writer familiar with the aesthetics, distinctive cuisine, and culture of 1960s Buenos Aires. Leiba, at the age of 85, wanted the story to sound as if it were told in his own voice — without unnecessary descriptions or unfamiliar words — and that’s exactly how we did it.
The life story written in memory of Daniela Lehavi was authored by the writer Nili Osherov and accurately portrayed the development of Daniela’s work, her strong family ties with her brother and sister, and the working relationships within the company she built. The process involved more than 20 personal interviews conducted by Nili over the course of more than a year.
The professional life story of Sarah Carmeli was written by an excellent ghostwriter, Tamar Rotem, who met with Sarah eight times at her home in Haifa. Each meeting revealed more stories and details, until Tamar delivered a well-crafted and refined 100-page manuscript for graphic design.
The life story of Lotte Ramot was written by the biographer Moshe Nishri through weekly meetings over approximately six months. The book tells the history of four generations of the family — beginning in Germany and ending at Kibbutz Givaat Brenner. It also includes a memorial section for Lotte’s son who was killed Yiftach Ramot.
The true art lies in creating the right connection between the writer and the client.
There must be trust, sensitivity, and genuine understanding. Only then can memories emerge freely, including stories and revelations that may never have been spoken aloud before. A biographer is not only a writer, but also a careful listener and a trusted companion throughout the process.
Your story matters. I invite you to begin the journey with us, and within months, you and your family will hold a beautifully designed book that preserves your life story for generations to come.
